I have been trying to keep the kids entertained each week in the holidays and this has been our busiest week so far. We visited Quarry Bank Mill on Monday, Drayton Manor Tuesday and Tree Top Nest Wednesday. We are all shattered now and ready for a chilled out day on Friday. Think it will be a PJ and movie day that’s for sure.
On Tuesday we set of early to Drayton Manor so we could drop Neil off at work on the way. Gutted he couldn’t come. We got there about 11am and the queues weren’t to bad, it took about 10 minutes to collect our tickets. Once we had those it was straight off into the park. I could hear lots of grumbles whilst waiting in relation to the on the gate price. I would recommended booking in advance as you can get some great deals. The gate price for people over 12 is £39. Which isn’t any different than other theme parks so not sure what the issue was.
We could see it was busy just from the car park and the amount of cars parked. We wasn’t going to let this spoil things though. Having been several times before we know the park really well and can all navigate without the map. Kaitkin and Jack went off to do their own thing whilst me and the boys hit Thomas Land and our first ride was Bertie Bus.
After the first ride we made our way round Thomas land. I was really proud of the boys waiting in line nicely for each ride especially as I knew the last few days were catching up with them. They waited so patiently and behaved really well. Our longest queues were James big red balloons and Winston Cars. The balloons is because it’s takes longer to load and unload the ride than the actual ride itself. I think it’s something to do with them swinging and the way they have to be loaded. They could do with some extra staff to help when busy.
We went on every ride except Cranky Crain and troublesome trucks and only missed these because the boys are not quite tall enough yet. We had done them all by 3pm which I thought was excellent especially during the school holidays.
Kaitlin and Jack had fun on their own going on several rides. The did say some of the queues were long but like with any theme park in the school holidays you have to expect queues and just be prepared to wait. Snacks and drinks help in the line.
We decided to go for our Picnic at 3.30pm and after we had eaten the boys were shattered so we made the decision to leave. The park and rides were open till 6pm though and I’m sure Kaitlin and Jack could have carried on. We also had some company whilst eating our picnic at the car. (You can also take picnics in the park with you as well I just couldn’t carry it on my own)
We had a fabulous day today and I was really pleased with how much we covered despite it being busy. We normally take a trip to the Zoo and adventure playground but the boys were really happy on the Thomas land rides today. You can read all about what we think of the Zoo and other parts of the park on our Drayton Manor blog.
