We had a super hectic July weekend. Neil went to Menorca with his friend, Kaitlin and Jack had a Federation bowling competition and I went to Newcastle with Edward and Euan to see grandparents. I decided if Neil was leaving me for a weekend in the sun then I would go and have my own fun in Newcastle. I even went to the cinema alone for the first time ever and it was just bliss.
Neil had 2 nights booked in Menorca for just over £300 for both him and his friend. They stayed in the resort Cala En Porter. He really enjoyed it but the only pit fall was a few steep hills to climb to get to the bars. They also took a taxi ride to neighbouring resort San Bou and said it was amazing there and that me and the kids would love it.
We have been checking out various dates and flights and think we can get away for four days at the end of august with flight for 4 for under £250. The twins will stay home and have fun with grandparents. I just need to try to find some affordable accommodation now in the right resort. So looks like I might get some beach time after all.
This weekend was my first time visiting Newcastle City. I have been up to take the twin loads of time but I have never been into the city. It was fab I got the metro from Fawdon which cost £4 (bargain) . It only took 15 minutes and took me right into the shopping centre. I had a mooch round the shops and went to find the cinema, I have never been to the cinema on my own before but it was really nice. I got o have popcorn all to myself.
After the cinema I went for a walk round and down to the quayside before deciding I needed food. I was spoilt for choice as there are so many new restaurants in the Intu Eldon Square shopping centre. I settled for Reds True BBQ and it was amazing I had the Red’s Pulled Pork & Slaw BBQ Tray with some cocktails. Why not I was on my holidays, well sort of. I know they have a branch in Manchester so I will certainly be taking another visit with Neil and the Kids. I didn’t feel silly neither being on my own and the staff were really nice and welcoming.
So while Neil, myself and the twins were off having fun the Kaitlin and Jack were Crown Green Bowling with granddad. They had a big federation game on Sunday ad had to get lots of practice in before having a sleep over at Auntie Jo’s and Grandma’s. They both played super well on Sunday and the coach and Grandad were very happy with their performance,.
We have a few hectic weeks coming up as a family, I can’t wait for the Big Grill Festival next weekend and a trip to Blackpool at the end of he month.
Do you have anything good planned?
