Do you have little ones who always want to go and ride their bike with big brother and sister. I have two little one’s who want to do just that. They currently have ride on cars and scooters but not a bike. We were offered the chance to review the Yvolution Y Velo Balance bike and I thought this would be a perfect introduction to bike riding for Edward and Euan.
It’s taken us way to long to get Jack riding his bike, we have tried for years but failed. Last summer we finally got him riding on his own at 8 years old. It wasn’t without scratches or bruises and lots of damaged pride though. He has had various bikes over the years and I wish the balance bike craze had been around when he was younger so he could have learned sooner. He now loves being out on his bike.
The Yvolution Y Velo Balance bike is aimed at children aged 3+. They are a great starting block for learning to ride. They also have a JR version aimed at children 18-48 months, great if you are a super active family and want to get them involved at a younger age.
The twins love using their battered old plastic ride on car to go up and down the patio. They go really fast as well. The Velo Balance Bike is the next step up for them. It took a while of getting used to for the boys as it only had 2 wheels not 4 and they are now higher in the air. They quickly got the hang of it though and I now need to invest in a another bike as they want to race each other across the grass.
One thing we have been sure to do is when playing on the concrete is try to make sure they use their helmets and encourage them to wear them at all times when on a bike or scooter. Helmets are so important and its easier to make them do it now than try to introduce it when they are out and about on their bikes. I will be the first to admit its does end in meltdown sometimes, or they sneak on without a helmet. Like in our photos. (sorry)
The Velo Balance bike is super easy to pop together, the instructions are really easy to follow,. The boys enjoyed helping me make it. The seat is adjustable so as they get bigger and there little legs get longer we can just move it up.
As you can see from the all our pictures the boys have had great fun. Euan is more comfortable on the bike than Edward. I’m sure when we have a second one and they are racing around the garden he will become more confident. The next stage will then be to get them out and about on them to the park and the shops. I am hoping this will help when we invest in a normal bicycle next year. Jack can’t wait to take them on bike rides.
You can purchase the Yvolution Y Velo Balance Bike direct from Yvolution and cost £49.99. I would highly recommend one for little ones learning to ride as a starter bike. We have seen their confidence grow every time they have had a go and hope by using this it will help transition them to bikes next year.
