Do you have little budding bakers in your home. Kaitlin has always loved baking and the twins love to watch and help out. Kaitlin always wanted a stand mixer of her own both as a little girl and as a nearly teenager. She now bakes on her own now. I think its great that you can get miniature toy versions of kitchen gadgets as it really encourages role play and lots for fun for kids. This morning we decided to unpack our Casdon Kenwood Stand Mixer and make some pancakes.
The boys were very excited that they had a miniature version of our big Savisto stand mixer that they could use and get involved with. We unpacked it and took all the plastic and wrapping off and worked out how to use it. The mixer can be used by hand or by inserting 2 x AA batteries. We chose the hand option so that boys could take turns. It comes with a whisk, paddle, spatula and recipe book.
We measured out the ingredients in the little mixer hoping that they would all fit in. The boys then took turns to mix the batter. It wasn’t fully mixed and we did need to tip it in a bowl to mix properly before cooking. The whisk didn’t reach the sides like a full sized mixer would. With perseverance you could have mixed it all by scraping sides and mixing. I would recommend mixing in a bowl and then just adding some pre mixed mixture in the bowl for you children. It would be easier and less messy.
The mixer is quite robust, a little stiff when lifting the top up to access the bowl but with continued use it would get easier. This is a great way to teach little ones how to bake and measure out ingredients and mix them together. The boys understand measuring and mixing through watching and helping Kaitlin.
You can buy the Casdon Kenwood Mixer from Amazon below. We have had fun this morning and I know I will use it again to make things as it gets them properly involved and they feel like they have made it themselves. Great little product.
