It’s Neil’s birthday this weekend and I can’t wait for an adult only night out. We do live in greater Manchester so we know the city well. We always like to book at hotel and make a weekend of it than have 30 minute taxi journey home. Plus it also helps with babysitters as my mum usually sleeps over at our house to make things easier. I am really excited because its been ages since we had a night out together.
We have booked a room at the Mercure Manchester Hotel through Trip Advisor as they had a great deal. It’s location is great for sightseeing and nightlife. It’s located overlooking Piccadilly gardens with amazing views of the gardens from the bar.
There is so much to do in Manchester for adults and families. We often go with the kids and I will be posting about great family places in the future. This post is to tell you about some of the great adult places you can visit.
Northern Quarter – has great nightlife, lots of bars and restaurants. Some great little cocktail bars our favourite at the minute is Apothica. They have just recently launched a new cocktail menu so looking forward to sampling a few on the list especially as it is happy hour till 5pm on a Saturday. They do also serve food but have yet to try that part.
Rusholme (curry mile) – lots of takeaways it’s famous for its curries and kebabs. This is slightly out of the centre but is worth a visit if you have never been before. No recommendation though sorry.
Cloud 23 – Champagne and cocktail lounge is located on the 23rd floor in the Hilton Deansgate it is a fabulous place to visit. I would highly recommend booking well in advance to get a table. You can turn up on spec but be prepared to wait especially on a weekend in the evening.
Shopping – Manchester has some fantastic shopping places. You can shop in the Arndale which is all your high street stores or take a trip to deansgate and St Anne’s square for something more unique and upmarket. You also have Selfridges and Harvey Nichols who serve amazing cocktails in there forth floor bar.
235 Casino – the casino is also home to James Martin Manchester. It’s open 24-7 however I would hope you wouldn’t want to waste all your time in Manchester in there. We like to pop in for a cocktail or two and may a few spins on roulette late evening. The cocktails are fab and there is a lively atmosphere.
Museums and Libraries – Manchester has lots of historical and cultural places to visit. You can hop on a tram over to Salford Quay’s were you will find the Lowry, the Imperial War museum, there is the library, National football museum the list goes on.
The list of things to see and do really does go on, this is just the tip of the iceberg. Manchester has some great places to eat and drink as well as shopping till you drop. We have theatres, arts and culture and so much to see.
If you are planning on coming to Manchester just adults or as a family make sure you do some research and plan your visit to maximise your time.
I will pop a review up of the hotel and some of the places we visit next week so do come back and check them out.
In the mean time check out Visit Manchester for more great places to see and things to do.
