This week just passed 10-19 March has been British Science Week a time to celebrate all things Science. We have had the pleasure, well I say pleasure it was more like gross time reviewing the Gross Science Kit from John Adams. The set comes with 12 different gross experiments about the human body. Jack thought it was amazing. The recommended age for the set is 7+ with adult supervision. I would agree with this as they need to be able to follow instructions and read it carefully.
In the set you get everything you need to conduct the experiments, you may need some additional household things like bowl, spoon etc. You are supplied with all sorts of powders and weird things. You do get a full instruction booklet which not only tells you how to do the experiment but also educates you. For example recreating farts, it’s tells you all about how farts are produced from our body and why. It tells you why they smell and what chemicals cause it. Jack loved this and is like a sponge so I know he will store lots of this new information and randomly blurt it out in months to come.
To Make the Fart in a Pot you mix the fart putty powder with some water and leave for 5 minutes. You then have a pink slime like ball. You push this in and out of your fart canister to create farting noises. Yes very nice I know the plus side for us mums is the putty smells of strawberries. You get enough powder to make two sets of fart putty.
Below is a picture off all the stuff that comes in the box. You also get some safety goggles Jack had these on already. You can see there are some weird looking items that I am sure Jack will have the pleasure of grossing us out with. He loves all things science.
You can do 12 different experiments. Farts, Bouncy Poo, Snot, Burp, Eyeball, Boils and Spots, Scabs, Digestions, Vomit x2, Brain, Fingers. Each one has full instructions and lots of gross facts for your child to learn.
There are also some really cool Gross food recipes at the back of the instructions booklet. Snakes Bites and BBQ sauce, Maggot Stew, Worm Burgers, Edible Skin, Worms In Dirt, Stuffed Cockroaches. These would make some awesome Halloween party food.
Jacks next experiment is to create fake Vomit, Neil’s worst nightmare so I think I will let him do this one ha ha ha.
You can buy your very own Gross Science kit from toy shops or Amazon. There is also a Booms, Bangs, Fizzes science kit to try out as well.
