We recently had the pleasure of reviewing a game made for adults called Midnight Taboo. It is so funny I just couldn’t stop laughing. This game is a grown up version of the Taboo game from Hasbro and is aimed at 18+. The game is super easy to set up as it actually doesn’t really need any setting up. The first time you use it you need to pop batteries in the buzzer. After that it’s a pile of cards, a score pad, buzzer and timer that’s it.
We played it for the first time with my sister and brother in law and it was super funny. Neil is usually the one who wins all the games we play but that’s probably because they are general knowledge. I am super rubbish at those. This game though is all about describing. You are given a word and have to describe it without saying one of the listed Taboo words. That’s the hard part as the words are pretty much what you would normally use so you really have to get your brain working.
You need a min of 4 players to play the games as you have to play in teams. You could however have teams of 4 and 12 people playing the choice is yours. I was partnered with my sister and because we can clearly understand each other’s chain of thought far better than Neil and Andy we absolutely smashed them.
We had a fab time playing this game, as mentioned above some of the cards do have an adult nature so it’s not really a game for playing with your nan (unless she is super cool that is). I would say this is a game best left to the adults and probably not family as it may get a bit embarrassing. Luckily me and my sister are quite close but with parents it may get a bit awkward.
Midnight Taboo Game is a must have game for family parties. I would be great for girls nights in or even a few drinks down the pub. You will be in rolling round with laughter. Highly recommended.
At the time of writing this review they are currently out of stock on Amazon but I hope they come back in stock soon. You should be able to pick it up from Argos or somewhere similar for around £22.
