Well what can I say potty training isn’t as easy as people think or sometimes make out. The twins have been showing signs for weeks that they are ready so we have set aside the weekend to try and tackle it. 4 days later and we are back to nappies.
They have been taking the nappy off as soon as they have a wee and also tell us when they have pooped. Straight forward you would think but nope. Not one wee in the potty on Friday but 15 pairs of underpants down and a giant poop. We called it a day at tea time Friday night and had a lovely bath to freshen them up and start a fresh again Saturday. I washed all the underpants and shorts ready to try again. They like to sit on the potty so that’s 1 hurdle dealt with just hope we get some wee in the potty on Saturday.
Saturday morning we are raring to go not sure about the twins. Onwards we go big boy pants on and the fun begins. To my surprise Edward did have a wee about 10.30 and we praised him and gave a little treat. Just as I thought we had cracked it Edward then had and accident and let’s just say he didn’t then do another in the potty all weekend. Euan surprised us and got on the potty Saturday afternoon and did a wee. You guessed it though it was his one and only wee all weekend.
The twins have been off colour and full of a cold, coughing and spluttering. Don’t think they had potty training high on their list this weekend at all. We have decided after three days of trying and cleaning that it would be best to put on hold another week and the try again next weekend.
Hopefully they will have got over their colds and be raring to go.
The new plan of action:
I have learnt some lessons and I have now invested in an additional potty, more pants and done some more research. We have read lots of advice and we are going to try the naked method this weekend and let them run around. The weather is lovely today as well so hopefully this warm weather stays and they can have lots of fun.
Who ever said this was easy was wrong.
We will master this potty training make sure you come back and check out our BLOG posts to see how we get on.
