This weeks mad rugby Sunday roundup
Oldham St Anne’s 7 – 14 Saddleworth
Mad rugby Sunday for us as we had to fit in rugby before a day at the races for Neila birthday.
Firstly a massive thank you to Ashy for standing in for Homer and Paul this week you did a cracking job, the lads listened to you and looked like they were behaving not sure what you threatened them with but it worked.
We arrived a little bit late and the game had started but from what the other mums said we hadn’t missed too much just the saddleworth boys running through is and scoring.
They had a strong side and we just wasn’t our best. The boys have been practicing tackling in training but appear not to have brought all that learning to the game this weekend.
There was some good attempts though I was especially proud of Harry he dived at one lad and missed home by a finger tip it was a shame the tackle didn’t come off but he made such good effort.
We need to run straight and in the middle more that was evident again today when the boys were running to the sides trying to find a way round to just to be pushed into touch. Ashy was directing the lads telling them to run towards the ref some listened and some didn’t, something to work on though for us.
We need to remember the boys are 7 and 8 and they are kids it super league players and as long as they are learning new skills having fun whilst doing it then you can’t ask for anymore from them in my eyes.
Man of the match – Jacob
Most Improved – Harry
Top Tackler – Oscar
Gaz – Tough day at the office today guys. It’s hard to see so many missed tackles out there when we know you can do it and have seen you do it previously. We will come back better and harder and take this coming week’s line and tackle practice to Wigan next Sunday. Every player came off that pitch though with a smile on their face and that is what’s the most important thing for me. Well done and we’ll played. Thanks to Peter Ashworth and Thomas Leyland for helping today.. COYS
Ashy – Tough day today, never nice to be on then end of games like today. Keep listening and learning boys and the rewards will come and keep smiling COYS
