This book is truly stunning to handle and read. The actual book cover itself has a red velvet texture to the title and feels luxurious to handle.
I can’t wait for Christmas Eve snuggled up on the sofa having family time with my children with hot chocolate and snuggled on the sofa reading them some great Christmas Stories something I used to enjoy when I was younger.
The stories are written by many authors and some of these are listed on the front pages of the book with a short bio of each author.
The book is split into the below 5 sections with each section having 7-8 stories/songs.
- Christmas is Coming
- Magical Moments
- Winter Wonderland
- Presents and Parties
- Goodwill and Giving
The book has 383 pages so you can see that the stories are all a few pages long the perfect lengths for a family snuggle and Story time.
I have given you a little sneak preview of the stories below and listed 2 from each don’t want to spoil the surprise of reading it for yourselves.
Christmas Is coming – The first Christmas Tree, The Elves and the Shoemaker
Magical Moments –Jimmy Scarecrows Christmas, Raggedy Andy’s Smile
Winter Wonderland –Jimmieboy’s Snowman, The beavers Christmas tree
Presents and Parties – Christmas Morning, Kate and Dicks Christmas
Goodwill and Giving – Scrooge Celebrates Christmas, The Christmas Cuckoo
I and Kaitlin (aged 10) have already sat and read a selection of the stories (we both love Christmas and all that comes with it) and we are super excited now for the festive season.
The stories are well written and have illustrations but not on every page so when reading to younger ones it will be more in the story telling than the actual pictures of the book that keeps their attention. The book is recommended for ages 7-10 which I think would be about right from the stories I have read so far but you can include the little ones as well if you read the right story.
I am really looking forward to reading all the stories in the book in the run up to Christmas and we will be choosing our favourites for Christmas Eve. As well as the stories there are some good traditional songs like Figgy Pudding, Jingle bells and the twelve days of Christmas all songs I remember from being a little girl and its lovely to teach those to my children and share those moments with them so they can remember when the grow up and share with their children as well.
This definitely a good book for family time and great to just take 10 minutes with your children with no gadgets, TV’s and has some special memory making moments. Something we sometimes to forget to do in our busy lives which are only getting busy every year.
‘Ditch the app for the lap’ is a phrase I saw on social media and for me this book if perfect for that at a special time meant for families and memories and it’s a book you can get out each year and read again and again and the stories never date.
